FEP means Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene

What does FEP actually mean? FEP is another version of PTFE, FEP is a meltable version. It can be extruded and be vacuum formed. Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene has a chemical resistance and has a non-stick property, same as PTFE.

A couple qualities of FEP-film are:

  • An incredible thermal stability

  • Resistant to almost all chemicals and solvents, retains its properties even with long-term exposure.

  • The greatest non-stick property

  • Very high permeability and very transparent

  • Resistant to weather influences

  • Lowest refractive index of all plastics

The material of Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene

FEP is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene, the biggest difference with the more well-known PTFE is the fact that it can be melted through screw extrusion or injection molding techniques. FEP shares the useful qualities of PTFE but is easier to form and softer than PTFE.

The manipulation of FEP film

FEP-film.com is part of the Holscot group. Holscot was founded in 1970 to discover the potential of fusible fluoroplastics such as FEP. Over the years we have developed various techniques to be able to manipulate and process the film such as welding, FEP thermoforming and etching and gluing. In the past we won the prestigious Plunkett Award.
